Social Ideas
1. Chapter AG, Foley, had a fabulous social at the Coastal Alabama Community College Culinary Center in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Chef Matt hosted 14 sisters and friends and demonstrated several recipes, including BBQ Shrimp and crab cakes. We learned lots of tips and left very full. (Sep 2021)
2. For about four years now Chapter AM has had an “Americana” party in July. Before Pam Lacey retired she was the Airman and Family Programs Manager for the 117th Air Refueling Wing, out at the Birmingham Airport so she still has contacts with that group all over the country. She asked them to send her names and addresses of deployed members. She then sends them a letter telling them who they are in P.E.O. and lets them know to expect the boxes. They go to the social with items to go in boxes to be sent to those service members,. from candy, to socks, to books…. They also ask for donations to go towards the shipping of the boxes. Their Chapter is so generous that this year they mailed 40 boxes to service members. Please view the photos from this year’s event. They all agree that it is so satisfying to do something for our often forgotten service members. Hope you enjoy the photos that one of their Birmingham airman, deployed now, sent her.

3. Chapter E Shares a Social Idea – Want a Chicago, a New York, or a Dinglewood?
Chapter E celebrated Fall with a ‘Puttin’ On The Dog’ picnic in the backyard of Julia & Earl Norton. The tables were decked out in red/white checked cloths and featured photo, recipe and ingredients for three different hot dog styles. A Hot Dog Trivia quiz entertained all while the dogs were heating up. A good time was had by all! Download the Hot Dog Trivia Game. Download the Hot Dog Trivia Game Answers.
The New York Dog
Keep it simple but go for the onions. Hot dog onions are served up at New York City hot dog stands. • Hot dog and bun • Mustard • Pushcart onion sauce • Sauerkraut (optional)
The Chicago Dog
A Windy City classic! (Dragged through the garden dog!) Add the condiments IN THE ORDER LISTED. And whatever you do, don’t spoil the splendor with ketchup! • Hot dog in bun • Yellow mustard • Sweet green pickle relish • Chopped onion • 4 tomato wedges • 1 dill pickle spear • 2 sport peppers • 1 dash celery salt
The Dinglewood Scrambled Dog
The Scrambled Dog originated in 1908 in Columbus, GA at a now-defunct cigar store and news-stand on Columbus’ Broadway. The scrambled dog recipe was “modernized” by the city’s Dinglewood Pharmacy. • Hot dog in bun and sliced (thru dog and bun) into bite-size pieces • Mustard • Ketchup (optional) • Chili with beans • Chopped onions • Oyster crackers • Sliced dill pickles
4. Chapter E is sharing news about their Mardi Gras party. Judy and Joel Melville hosted 28 members of Chapter E to celebrate Mardi Gras with a traditional Gumbo dinner. Masks and beads were in abundance on walls, tables, and even a few sisters! A Mardi Gras Quiz was given which added to the merriment of the occasion.
